Currently, there are 105 statewide confirmed cases of the coronavirus. According to a CUNY report, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has stated that the risk to New Yorkers contracting the virus is low. There are no reported cases of the coronavirus in the CUNY community.

Presently, the CUNY Chancellor  Félix V. Matos has formulated a Coronavirus Task Force that will be run by the Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer Hector Batista and Dr. Ayman El-Mohandes, Dean of the CUNY School of Public Health. This task force will work with CUNY to field inquiries from CUNY campuses and make recommendations to the Chancellor.

As a precautionary measure, CUNY has contacted its faculty and staff to prepare to “accommodate to the greatest extent, affected students.” Accommodations can include “facilitating enrollment after the deadline, fast-tracking academic advising, permitting make-up exams, and extending due dates of final assignments projects.”
