    • This comprehensive session is designed to build a strong foundation in effective communication by way of public speaking. We’ll explore the critical elements, equipping you with essential skills to excel both personally and professionally. This session is perfect for anyone – from experienced speakers seeking to refine their techniques to novices looking to overcome stage fright. Attendees will leave with actionable strategies and valuable insights that will boost their confidence and help them own the power of their own voice and the impact of their sound.

    • Join this online information session to learn more about the fully online bachelor’s degree programs offered at CUNY SPS. At this session, you’ll receive information about online learning, the admissions and application process, financial aid options, and more.
  • ePortfolio 101: The Basics
    • 6:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Register here
    • In this session, you will explore the structure of ePortfolio and learn how to use the platform. You will learn how to navigate the Digication dashboard, create a new ePortfolio or share your existing ePortfolio, and identify signature assignment(s) connected to your course(s). The session will provide an overview of page navigation, instructions and prompts, and introductory customization tips to begin building your ePortfolio.

  • Finding, Using, & Citing Sources in APA Style

    • The CUNY SPS Writing Fellows will present a live webinar/Q&A session covering how to find, use, and cite sources in your writing. The presentation will include information on how to use CUNY OneSearch, direct quoting, paraphrasing, and how to create in-text citations and a reference list in APA format. The presenters for the event are Madeline Nickel and Kiera Bono.

  • Youth Studies State of the Sector at St. Francis College

This conference is dedicated to advancing job quality, promoting economic mobility, and fostering equity in the workforce development ecosystem, particularly for youth workers aged 16-24. This event is your opportunity to be part of a collective movement toward a future where youth workers thrive, personally and professionally.

  • City Harvest – Volunteer Event
    • 2:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. Register here
    • Much of the food that City Harvest procures through partnerships with farmers, wholesalers, or through local food drives arrives in large capacity containers, which can be challenging to distribute equitably. With the power of our volunteers, we take thousands of pounds of produce and repack it from large, bulk containers into smaller, family-sized units that community food programs can easily distribute.
  • Technology Career Meet-up: Resume Review Drop-In – Session #1
    • 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Register here
    • If you are planning to attend the Technology Career Meetup, we encourage you to attend our resume review drop-in session. In this resume review session, you will have the chance to meet with our team to learn how to adjust your resume to reflect your relevant experience, abilities, and accomplishments. You will receive valuable resume advice to help your resume stand out to employers who are attending the Business Career Meetup. This webinar will be presented by Kelsey Richardson, career advisor. This program will be presented twice during the semester. We strongly encourage you to attend a resume webinar before requesting a resume review with our office. You are welcome to join the meeting at any time within the two hours.
  • MELO Ideation Workshop

Monday, March 10

  • Student Government Information Session
    • 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Register here
    • CUNY SPS is now accepting nominations for students to run for election to two organizations at the CUNY School of Professional Studies: Governing Council and Student Association. Governing Council is the primary policy-making body of the School, subject to the authority of the policies and bylaws of the CUNY Board of Trustees. Seven students are needed to serve on the Council for a one-year term running July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. Student Association considers and approves student events, reviews applications for funding for conference participation, helps in determining Commencement activities, and provides student leadership to the School. Fifteen students are needed to serve on the Association for a one-year term running July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. This session will introduce you to the difference between the Governing Council and the Student Association, the student roles and responsibilities, and provide an overview of the election process. Elections will take place from Thursday, April 3 through Thursday, April 10. Election results will be announced on Monday, April 21.
  • Meditation for Grounding in Uncertainty

    • The Office of Student Life is excited to announce that Emily Jimenez, a CUNY SPS alumna, will be leading meditation sessions designed to help the CUNY SPS community cultivate balance and resilience. These sessions aim to empower students with practical tools for holistic well-being. Meditation for Grounding in Uncertainty: Learn how to navigate life’s changes with greater ease in this calming session. Using grounding techniques, body awareness practices, and mindfulness, participants will cultivate stability, resilience, and confidence during uncertain times.

  • Careers in Technology – Career Meet-up Session #1

    • Meet hiring managers and recruiters, learn first-hand about their organizations and job and internship openings, and get pointers on how to position yourself for success. Each online career meet-up session will focus on a specific industry but will be open to current students and alumni from all majors and programs. Sessions will be hosted by the career services team, featuring employers, alumni, and others from around the CUNY SPS community.

  • South Asian Student Union Iftar: IN PERSON

    • You’re invited to join us for the third annual Iftar event, hosted by the South Asian Student Union, on March 13, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at 119 W 31st St, New York, NY 10001, Room 407. This special occasion will celebrate the essence of Ramadan and bring our diverse community together. The evening will commence with a live prayer session, followed by a delightful meal, creating a moment for us to share in the joyous spirit of togetherness. In addition to the meal, we will have fun games, delicious food, Henna for an extra cultural touch, and exciting giveaways!

    • The Office of Student Life is excited to announce that Dionne Toussaint, a CUNY SPS student, will be leading a series of Constructive Dialogue sessions this spring semester. These sessions are designed to foster understanding, build trust, and strengthen our community—one conversation at a time. Mindfulness and meditation practice followed by a guided discussion on managing challenges with Health, Mental Fitness, Stress, Sleep, Depression, Loneliness, Grief, Anxiety, experiencing Low Motivation, Lack of Focus or Concentration, and Social Media use.

    • CUNY SPS has undergraduate degree programs for students who have already earned 24 or more credits at a previous accredited institution. Offered online, our programs meet the needs of transfer students looking for a seamless way to finish or transition to a bachelor’s degree program. We’d like to invite you to attend this online SEEK information session, during which time a member of our SPS SEEK team will answer any questions that you might have about the SEEK program and applying to CUNY SPS.

    • At CUNY SPS, we have graduate degree and advanced certificate programs for adult students interested in further exploring an academic area, transitioning careers, or excelling within their current field. A majority of our fully accredited graduate programs are offered online, giving students the flexibility and convenience of attending class on a schedule that fits into their busy lives. We invite you to attend this online information session during which time our Director of Graduate and Undergraduate Admissions will answer any questions that you might have about CUNY SPS and our admissions processes. You will then have the opportunity to attend a breakout room Q&A session to learn more about your program of interest.

Saturday, March 22

  • City Meals on Wheels – Volunteer Event
    • 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. Register here
    • Volunteers will be delivering Emergency Food Packages from Citymeals Office, 355 Lexington Avenue, time of arrival 9:30 am. Delivering our Emergency Food Package Box to homebound meal recipients, in case of emergency. The meals are delivered rain or shine. Many clients are within walking distance, others will require a quick train or bus a few stops from the office. Volunteers will depart from the last address on their list and text/call coordinator to inform us if someone doesn’t answer the door, so we can schedule a redelivery for clients that are not home.

    • Governing Council is a shared governance model that honors the strengths, interests, and responsibilities of all constituencies on academic-related business. Governing Council is comprised of both appointed and elected members of the SPS community including students, faculty, non-teaching instructional staff, academic directors, and administrators. In accordance with NYS Open Meetings Law, any member of the School or University community or of the general public may attend.     • Learn how to add content to your ePortfolio and discuss the importance of graphic design and visual communication. You will also have an opportunity to explore past ePortfolio samples, design/format a page(s) of your current ePortfolio, and use the platform’s design features to transform its look and view. This event is open to all CUNY SPS students.

    • Professor Joseph Hartnett of the Newman Library provides a hands-on introduction to Zotero, a free open-source, bibliographic citation management tool that allows you to collect, store, and organize information as you research, and to rapidly generate citations and bibliographies in a variety of styles as you write.

    • Volunteers will help deliver packages to older adults and engage with them by either spending 30–45 minutes in person or making a 15–20 minute friendly phone call. It’s a wonderful opportunity to make meaningful connections while giving back to our community. Location: DOROT – 171 W. 85th St. (just off Amsterdam Ave.) More details and the registration link will be provided as we get closer to the event.
